The Royal Wedding

On Friday, our pupils enjoyed a Royal Wedding Street Party to celebrate the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The day started with an assembly about the royal family and why this wedding is so historic and why it is relevant for our children. During this assembly, we took at look at some of the wonderful costumes that the children wore, including more military dress, a pharoah and a few Burger Kings!
The pupils then spent the morning learning about the 4 key British Values. We played games and took part in activities to help us understand the importance of these to our everyday lives as Talavera pupils. These included giving each other instructions while blindfolded in order to practise using respectful language. We held a debate about the banning of break time in order to explore democracy. We looked at experiences and qualities we share or don't share to discover more about individual liberty. Finally, we thought about what a Talavera child has the right to do when we considered the rule of law.
In the afternoon, the children had a street party at which they enjoyed the many baked goods that you so kindly donated to us. We listened to British music and got into the wedding day mood!
Thank you all so much for once again entering into the spirit of our event. We could not hold such days if it were not for your support.
