Underground maths

On Friday 22nd of June the year 5 children had a visit from Alderwood Senior School.  They arranged different mathematical problems for the children to work on in groups. The first task involved the London underground and navigating from one station to another, using the best routes possible. They imputed their answers onto an electronic key board, which then analysed the answers to see how many groups were correct.  The next challenge was a range of different problems around London – including measurement, estimating and calculation. Finally the children had a range of clues related to a dinosaur time line.  They had to crack the clues to order the dinosaurs correctly. The children were amazing all afternoon and loved the challenges given. Alderwood teachers complemented the children’s behaviour and knowledge. A great afternoon was had by all.
