Young Writers’ Competition

Young Writers’ Competition

Last year, during the summer term, 2 children from each class participated in a writing workshop with Miss Nash. The aim was to produce a poem that could be entered into the Young Writer’s Monster Poetry Competition. Incredibly, 7 children from Talavera Junior School were selected as winners out of 20,000 entries and will now have their work published in a real book!

The winning entries were:

  • Tallulah Ricketts (Year 4) with her poem titled ‘Voldarspirit’
  • Gabrielle Adolphe (Year 6) with her poem titled ‘Undercover Monsters’
  • Benjamin Coka (Year 5) and Avenai Coka, Maxim Rana and Epa Tamatawale (previous year 6 pupils) with their poem titled ‘Is it them or me?’
  • Amber Gurung (previous year 6 pupil) with her poem titled ‘The Monster Under Your Bed’

We are all incredibly proud of the children and their fantastic pieces of poetry. We cannot wait to their work in the Young Writers’ book once it has been published!
